Katie is also a wanderer, although her search is not so specific. In fact, she's not sure what she is hungering for. A new life? Exciting career change? Another attempt at love? A family? No—definitely not a family. With her mother dead, her father in prison, and her siblings scattered hither and yon, she doesn't want to risk the connectedness of a family again. Because when you have a family, there are always emotions, good and bad. When you are on your own, you have only your own emotions to deal with.
A family, she knows, is the one thing she does not want.
She's taken many an adventure the past few years, eating up most of her twenties, and now life has smacked her solidly in the face and change is imminent. Her wanderlust days are over.
She's pregnant. Alone. And for the first time in her life, more than a little frightened of her future. A baby? How can she do this? Restless and uncertain, she sets out on one last soul-searching venture. Her wandering days may soon be over, but that gut-wrenching search for… something, still nags at her. Calls her. And leaves her yearning for peace.
A peace that is difficult for her to come by.
So, not knowing what to do, she does what she's always done—moves on. A strange nesting emotion settles over her and even though she longs to buy a plane ticket or hop a train to anywhere, she opens her heart and lets in one thought—water. She needs to be near water. Her childhood home was near the sea. And return she must, to settle herself, regain her being, and focus her energies on the task at hand—figuring out her next adventure, life with a child.
She is willing and prepared to go it alone. In fact, that is her desire. And all goes well, until a tall, dark, handsome and somewhat unworldly stranger enters her life….
