by Maddie James
Synopsis:
“I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge - myth is more potent than history - dreams are more powerful than facts - hope always triumphs over experience - laughter is the cure for grief - love is stronger than death”
~ Robert Fulghum
There is a circle to life that we sometimes fail to grasp. Today's world is too busy to notice. But when you stop and ponder the very basic elements of life, it is possible to suspend your disbelief and understand.
In reality, it is quite simple. We come into this world as a spirit, our bodies are simply the house our spirit lives in. Spirits, never die. They just get wiser. The live, they love, they make mistakes, they learn, they evolve, they grow, and they gain wisdom. Sometimes spirits get lost between worlds. Sometimes, in their efforts to grow and gain wisdom, they get sidetracked. Fortunately, for us—for you, Jack, Claire and for me—we've evolved in such a way that we've learned to manipulate elements of time and space and understand the workings of the earth—weather, elements of nature, moon cycles—to help these spirits find their rightful places. To help them find love. Grow. Have families. Become wise.
And to help other the spirits on their way. (from The Curse)
Claire Winslow Porter's mother speaks these words to her just days before her spirit passes into the next world. Her revelation guides Claire's decisions to seek out her own spirit mate across time. She does and finds success. Claire and Jack Porter live for twenty-seven years together on a barrier island off the east coast of the Carolinas before death claims them both within days of each other. Jack dies first, his spirit troubled at watching Claire's heart give out. He does a foolish thing and takes his anguish to the sea, and never returns.
Claire follows not long after and finds his spirit waiting. For some time, they revel in the joy of having their spirits joined in Heaven—without strive, turmoil, or daily struggles to exist—until Claire is chosen. |
